'Nookie Nokes' and the great Romsey revolt: Local Tories bid to oust new MP who had tryst with young activist

A married Tory MP who had an affair with a party activist ten  years her junior is facing moves to topple her just two months after she was elected.

The revelations about Caroline Nokes’s affair with 27-year-old James Dinsdale have triggered an extraordinary sequence of events in her usually tranquil Hampshire constituency, including a poison pen campaign smearing a member of her family.

The intrigue comes amid growing unrest in her local party over her position as MP in the wake of her four-year relationship with the Suffolk councillor – details of which emerged in bizarre circumstances.

Shortly after the pair enjoyed a tryst in a London hotel last month, a camera  secretly fixed to the ceiling to film  their lovemaking fell on to the bed.
